Enhancement Project on Special Needs Education
The Faculty of Education of Ehime University was entrusted with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Practical Research Enhancement Project on Special Needs Education" in FY2019 and FY2020.
This project summarizes the results of practical research for the smooth implementation of the "Special School Kindergarten Education Guidelines" and "Special School Elementary and Junior High School Curriculum Guidelines"
by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The purpose is to disseminate information to teachers of special schools and classes.
In line with the new curriculum guidelines for kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools, and high schools, the new curriculum guidelines for special schools also have the perspective of "a curriculum open to society" and "independent, interactive, and deep learning." Emphasis is placed on guidance based on this, enhancement of education (career education) for independence and social participation, and establishment of curriculum management at each school. At the same time, at special schools, the basic concept of "handling of curriculum for persons with multiple disabilities" was stipulated from the perspective of ensuring the continuity of learning for children, and for children with intellectual disabilities. There are also regulations regarding the handling, curriculum, and educational content of each subject. In order to achieve these contents and goals, the use of information devices such as computers is also recommended, and the aim is to deal with various failure characteristics.
We hope that the advanced efforts and practical examples of each organization compiled by this project will serve as a reference for teachers of special schools and classes nationwide.
