With the realization of Japan’s Global and Innovation Gateway for All (GIGA) Initiative, there is a need to enhance learning through effective teaching methods for students with disabilities. With regard to textbooks which are currently published in paper form, we will develop digital textbooks for learners based on the functions required for effective instruction according to the characteristics of disabilities, and extract issues related to the creation of such textbooks. We presented the design and development process and the plan evaluation of its usability in terms of objective, subjective and app-specific qualities and identify the issues to structure its further improvement and future development.
Last October 22nd to 25th 2021, Von Ralph Dane Marquez Herbuela attended the 13th International Conference on Education Technology and Computers 2021 (ICIET) online. On October 23rd, in his talk during the 4th session on Computer Aided Instruction and Educational Information System, he introduced and discussed their Digital textbook project commissioned by the
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).The session was chaired by Prof. Iryna Sekret, StartinForum International Project Management and Business Consultancy, Turkey and his co-presenters who were from universities in China, Russia, Germany, and New Zealand talked about their projects focusing on machine learning applications to teaching and learning, learning outcomes and course development and evaluation, and smart eResearch tools and technologies. During the closing ceremony on October 25th chaired by Prof. Minoru Nakayama from Tokyo Institute of Technology, he was awarded as one of the best presenters of the conference.
